Governors

Welcome to the Eastover Governors page

The Governors of Eastover Community Primary School are all committed volunteers who work to ensure each pupil at the school makes the very best progress and that the school is managed and led as effectively as possible.  The Governors come from a range of backgrounds but share a commitment to support and challenge the school in its work.

Governors undertake a training programme and regularly visit the school.

What does a governor do?

School governors provide strategic leadership and accountability in schools. Governors appoint the head teacher and deputy head teacher. It is governors who hold the main responsibility for finance in schools, and it is governors who work with the head teacher to make the tough decisions about balancing resources.

The role of the governing board is a strategic one and its key functions are to:

* set the aims and objectives for the school

* set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives

* set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives

* monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives

* be a source of challenge and support to the head teacher

 Becoming a governor

If you would like to be part of one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and play an important role in the strategic running of the school, please contact the school office.

Structure of Eastover Primary School Board of Governors

The board is split into 2 committees which are the Curriculum and Community Committee and the Business Committee. Both committees and the whole board of governors meet regularly throughout the year.
